Yesterday, I went to church. It was my nephew’s first communion and the thing is that if I have to go church, I will work hard to make it a vibe.
The priest’s served the body/blood. I served communion cunt/auntie glamour.
My daughter wore in a Chanel-inspired little child suit and absolutely refused to sit still. Or post for official photographs.
I love the kids having their first communions dressed like tiny brides and grooms, posting for pictures with their little prayer hands. Here is my favourite first communion pic of all time (not from today)
The priest said “To all the beautiful girls dressed so nice, remember to remove your gloves to receive communion.” And I would like you to do the same to receive these tabs.

Number of Tabs Open: 15
Tab 1: Slaves To Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity by Monica L. Miller
The theme of tomorrow’s Met Gala is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," drawing inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s seminal work, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, which I am reading in preparation for seeing the all the *lewks* (btw the actual dress code for the gala is the much vaguer “Tailored for You” in case you were worried about the degree of cultural appropriation awaiting us tomorrow).
Tab 2: Poshmark Listing for Zandra Rhodes Ikea Bag
I recently complimented a woman’s tote bag and she told me it was actually an IKEA bag. This bag - from the 2021 KARISMATISK collaboration with Zandra Rhodes. Then I found it on Poshmark.
Tabs 3-6: Stuff from Urban Outfitters

This feels a little like when I publicly admitted that I genuinely love Subway subs but I like to buy bits and bobs from Urban Outfitters. THERE! I said it! It reminds me of when I would take the Greyhound bus into the city and wait outside the store until it opened, just so I could go in and buy a single graphic tee. These days I’m not buying garments from UO, but I have a hard time resisting cheap-n-cheerful Y2K-inspired sunglasses/other accessories/pimple stickers/keychains/disposable cameras and it’s a real weight off me to have admitted it to you.
Tab 7: Willy Chavarria Budweiserria Destroyed Buffalo T-shirt
The luxury distressed tee is a real workhorse in my wardrobe, the way a navy blazer is for other people. I love Willy Chavarria and can’t wait for the Fall collection and his Adidas collab to hit stores but for now I am fixating on this tee, and imagining wearing it with the Mudd Pearl earrings from the last tab newsletter and…
Tab 8: Wilfred Luminary Poplin Skirt in White
…this skirt. I actually feel like a white skirt is the main missing piece in my SS25 wardrobe and could make a lot of things click for me.
Tab 9: Roger Vivier Belle Vivier 45 Two-Tone Patent Leather Slingback Pumps
I got an instant full body yes when I saw these shoes. Mod meets 80s New Wave - gimme gimme gimme. My brain instantly lit up with ideas of how I would style them, which is a kind of fun in seeing a fab piece, even if you don’t end up buying it.
Tab 10: J Crew Pleated Skirt in Pink Cherry
Slap my ass and call me basic, I love Carrie Bradshaw’s style. I know this is triggering for those who feel like we in the fashion space need to have a more erudite reference level but…remember when I said I liked Subway? This skirt reminds me of Season 2 slip skirt Summer Carrie, and I like the idea of pairing it with one of these naughty Vaquera tees to make it more modern (either the Balconette Bra Tank, or the Fetish or Teddy Tees).
Tab 11: John Fleuvog Lounger Lizard Flat Sandals
I can’t explain this really. These are ugly and yet…I want them. They remind me of the anime-motif button up shirt, skinny Oakleys on the back of head guys from where I grew up. I feel strangely drawn to reference what used to repulse me as a teen, now that I’m not forced to regard the wearers as my dating pool.
Tab 12: Marc Jacobs Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse Graffity Speedy 30 Bag
I have been watching a lot of videos about Marc Jacobs on Youtube - ever heard of it? I watched a thingie about Marc Jacob’s 2001 collaboration with artist Stephen Sprouse for Louis Vuitton; reimagining the brand’s iconic monogram with a bold graffiti on overlay. The initial collaboration was a more tonal graffiti but in 2009 after the passing of Sprouse, Marc revisited the motif again with neon graffiti. I remember being very into it when it first came out and I like it still.
