All My Open Tabs #4
Headband ideas, Anita Pallenberg & colour me influenced!
I took a week off from tabs, but I did it for you. I thought of your poor inboxes, likely swarming with Black Friday emails, and thought “There will still be tabs next week.”
I didn’t shop any online sales. Last Friday, I visited (in person) a vintage shop in Hamilton, ON called Vintagesoulgeek. I’d discovered it years ago when I was in a rush and finally had the chance to go back. There was so much there! If you have a small head: run, don’t walk. The vintage cocktail hat selection is BEYOND! The first thing I tried on was this voluminous vintage racoon coat that gave me Yoko Ono-vibes and it ended up being the thing I couldn’t leave without.
Vintage shopping IRL just hits different. It’s an extremely creative activity for me and I always feel energized by it, even if I don’t leave with anything. I struggle with impulse control stuff, particularly when vintage shopping because the fact that there is only one of something fucks me up and sometimes makes me panic buy a thing I regret once I get home. Now I typically take a picture of the thing, go home, think on it, and almost always decide I don’t need it. I find I don’t always need to own a thing. It’s enough to puzzle out its possibilities in my head. How would I wear it if I had it?
My tabs, also, are sometimes a version of this. These are the ones I have open on my phone today.
